One of the questions we are asked quite often is, “what stair tread would you recommend for the garage or basement steps?” My answer is what kind of step do you have? If the answer is a 2 x 12 plank, I automatically recommend the R.C. Musson 355 Koroseal Vinyl Stair Treads. The reason is this step cover will cover the nose of your step. The thickness of a 2 x 12 is 1-3/4″, and the extra long nose on the 355 series will cover it completely. It is the only vinyl stair tread we have that will cover the nose completely. Also, Koroseal Vinyl Stair Treads are a lot more economical then rubber stair treads. Rubber stair treads would be over kill in a residential application, they are a lot more heavy duty, but I doubt you have 500 passages on your garage or basement steps in one day.
