We now have a reinforced rubber crutch tip for hollow metal legs on chairs and tables. Our new Reinforced Rubber Crutch Tip is a two piece assembly, the first piece is a metal tube cap, and the second piece is the rubber crutch tip. One of the biggest problems with rubber crutch chair tips is the metal leg punching through the rubber feet. This happens because the metal chair legs are sharp and blunt. By installing a chair tube cap first, the rubber chair leg has more of a surface area to displace the weight. We are currently stocking four different sizes, but will be offering an1-1/4″ soon:
5/8″ Reinforced Rubber Crutch Tip
3/4″ Reinforced Rubber Crutch Tip
7/8″ Reinforced Rubber Crutch Tip
1″ Reinforced Rubber Crutch Tip
We are now stocking the Whisper Glide Contact Adhesive. After selling tens of thousands of Whisper Glides to schools and institutions around the country, one of the most asked questions on this product was, can we order just the adhesive, it is the best glue we have used! We have had it in stock for the past few years and just got it up on our website today. Each tube of Whisper Glide Contact Adhesive is 3.8 fluid ounces. The Whisper Glide Adhesive can be ordered on our website. If you have any questions on this product or any other Chair Glide Product, call or email our Chair Glide Experts.
]]>Do you have the problem of your metal chair legs breaking through the rubber chair tips and scratching the floor? If you have this problem, we have a very easy solution. We sell in a package, a metal chair tip and a rubber chair tip, by installing the metal tube cap first and putting the rubber chair tip over the top you are able to displace the weight of the chair over the whole bottom of the rubber chair tip. And the beauty is, when they do wear out, the metal tube cap is rounded, so you floors should not be scratched. The are offering this solution in 5/8″, 3/4″, 7/8″ and 1″ outside diameter measurements. They are currently on our website under “Rubber Chair Tips” and then Reinforced Rubber Chair Tips 5/8“, Reinforced Rubber Chair Tips 3/4″, Reinforced Rubber Chair Tips 7/8″ and Reinforced Rubber Chair Tips 1″.
]]>We just added 4 new Nylon Glide Caps for Floor Protection, in an effort increase our product offering in this area. These 4 Nylon Glide Caps will fit all of the glides in our SGR Series of Chair Glides. SGR stands for Swivel Glide Round tubing chair glides, which are used in just about any school or classroom in America. The 4 Nylon Glide Caps we are offering are the Non Skid Glide Cap, Felt Based Glide Cap, Smooth Bottom Glide Cap, and the Floor Saver Glide Cap. The Non Skid Glide Cap is a Nylon Glide Cap that has a rubber base so your chairs will not slide across the floor. The Felt Based Glide Cap has a felt bottom, which will slide easily across the floor while preventing scratching. The Smooth Bottom Glide Cap is a nylon glide cap that has a smooth nylon bottom. And the last one is the Floor Saver Glide Cap, this glide has ring molded in to the cap to push the dirt away has it slides across the floor. The logic being that the dirt will not get under the ring and prevent scratching of your floor. Any of these or our other Protective Chair Tips will greatly reduce the schools maintenance costs. This product and other floor protection chair tips can be found on the Protective Chair Tips section of our website.
]]>We have a product on our website that really helps in the removal of classroom chair, desk and table glides. The removal tool is called the Swivel Glide Removal Tool, or Swivel Glide Puller, The tool measures 12″ long and weighs 1.5 pounds. We really recommend this tool if you are removing more than 200 chair glides. To use this tool, place the “V” shaped end on the chair glide while holding the knurled end. Then tap with a mallet or hammer, the chair glide will come out, some more easily then others, but they will come out. Another method would be to use a pair of pliers or channel locks. Grip the swivel classroom glide and tap with a mallet or hammer.
]]>Are you tired of you metal legs wearing through your “Rubber Chair and Table Tips”? If you are having this problem, then I might have a few solutions. The first solution is to put a “Metal Round Chair Tips” inside the hollow leg, more specifically the Tube Caps, which come in 5/8″ to 1-1/8″ diameters. Having the metal leg covered with a smooth end cap, the leg will have a harder time wearing through the rubber chair or table tip. I show an image of the Metal Round Chair Tip, Tube Cap below. The second solution is similar to the first, but instead of a metal cap, you would use a plastic cap. The Plastic caps are shown on this section of our website, “Plastic Round Chair Tips – Table Glides and Feet”. Again, having the metal leg covered with a smooth end cap, the leg will have a harder time wearing through the rubber chair or table tip. I show a image of the Plastic Round Chair Tip below. The third solution is to put a metal washer in the bottom of the “Rubber Chair and Table Tips”. This way the metal leg will be resting on the metal washer, instead of the softer rubber. We do not have the washers in stock, but they can be purchased at any hardware store. We stock a Rubber Chair and Table Tips, made by Sico, that has a washer in it. It is for a 1″outside diameter leg. You can view this at “Sico Rubber Table Glide”
]]>Are your dinning room chairs or any other wood chair or table scratching your hardwood floors? If your dinning room is like mine you have tried the adhesive backed felt tips, but they keep wearing out, or worse yet, falling off. What I did was remove the metal base on all my chairs that I have on wood floors and installed Felt Based Nail On Glides. The Felt Based Nail on Glides come in 7/8″ or 1-1/8″ diameters. Low and behold, 6 months later they are still on the chairs. I took a screw drive and mallet and tapped the screw driver under the metal base and then pried it off. I then purchase the Felt Based Nail on Glides. And then used the mallet to tape on my new Felt Base Nail on Glides. You could also use the Tap-On Safeglides, which have a round wood cutting ring that you tap on to your wood chair legs. The Tap-On Safeglides come in 7/8″, 1″, or 1-1/2″ diameters. These two felt based glides can be ordered on our Protective Chair Tips page. Below are images of the Felt Base Nail on Glide, and the Tap-On Safeglides.
]]>The biggest problem people have with the Rubber Chair and table Feet (tips) is measuring there legs correctly. The measurements for the Rubber Chair and Table Feet are the outside Diameter. To measure this, you can take a ruler and measure across the leg at the widest place. Diameter is by definition, “a straight line connecting the center of a circle with two points on its perimeter”. We stock Rubber Chair Tips in 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″, 7/8″, 1″ 1-1/8″ and 1-1/4″ for legs with that outside diameter. The actual outside diameter of the chair tips will me a little less, so they will stay on your legs. We stock them in Brown, Black, Grey and Tan. We offer two version, Crutch Tips and Contemporary Tips. The Crutch Tips are self explanatory, they are like the tips on a crutch. The Contemporary tips are smooth and have a more modern look. They can be ordered on our website. The images below show the Crutch and Contemporary feet.
]]>Classroom chair glides – external verse internal holding clip, this post is clarify the difference between external and internal holding clips. An external holding clip grabs the classroom chair by the the outside of the leg. The internal holding clip grabs the classroom chair by the inside of the hollow leg. American Desk, Artco Bell, Carter Craft, Krueger, Peabody and Virco have used the external holding clip, but at this point the only one we stock is the 5/8″ outside diameter model, our part numbers are SGR62A (metal base) and SGR62AN (nylon base). Below are pictures of the internal holding clip and external holding clips. We offer a full range of classroom glides, tips and feet on our website, click here.
