Is your Jackson Exit Device 1085, 1285 or 2086 bottom rod dragging on the floor? If so the problem is really easy to fix. 99% of the time the problem is the Top Bolt Guide Assembly . The tell tale sign that this is the problem is a mark on the floor right below the bottom rod. The mark would arc right under the door all the way out. On the Jackson Exit Device 1085/1285/3086, the Top Bolt Guide Assembly (part #30-934), our part # G108518, holds the rods in the retracted position when the door is opened. When the crossbar is pushed down, the top rod retracts and the the spring loaded clip closes over the top of the rod. This clip keeps the rods retracted until the door closes and strikes the Jackson Exit Device Top Bolt Trip Assembly which pushes the spring loaded clip out of the way and the rods extend to the locked position. Some other problems the The Jackson Panic Hardware Top Bottom Guide Assembly may cause are the door will not close unless you push down the crossbar, again the spring clip is broken and the rod is sticking up and not letting the door close. We stock many Jackson Exit Device parts, they can be found on our website!
